Nail Art - New Design

I wanted to show off a manicure I created earlier today. I bought some nail gems the other day at Walmart, and I was experimenting with them. I also bought some new turquoise glitter Stripe Rite and wanted to test it out. For this manicure I also used China Glaze in Re-Fresh Mint and Seche Vite top coat.

Sorry about my cuticles!

I really like this manicure! It reminds me of something you could get at a nail salon, but with funkier colours ;)

What do you think? Have you ever used nail bling before? I really like it!

Ring and Blue Manicure

I wanted to show off a cute ring I got for Christmas this year. It is handmade glass and I love it! I also did a blue manicure to go with it. I used Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Calypso Blue and Revlon Nail Polish in Blue Mosaic. These are two of my favourite blue polishes!

So there is the ring (SO CUTE!) and my quick manicure!

Blue is one of my favourite colours to wear on my nails, what are yours?

Hunger Games Nail Polish Line Preview

I love The Hunger Games series. In fact, I am reading them again right now before the movie comes out in March. So, when I heard that China Glaze was possibly going to do a collection based on the movie, I was super pumped! Today I was browsing a few of my favourite blogs and found this article from Vampy Varnish that has the confirmed colours and names of the polishes.

I think I am most excited about Fast Track, Stone Cold, Agro, Smoke and Ashes, Electrify and Luxe and Lush. I know Luxe and Lush was originally thought to represent the dress Katniss wears for her interview, but now it represents District 1 (Luxury). Each polish represents a District, you can see that list from All Lacquered Up, another favourite blog.

Well, are you as excited as me? I know I will be at my local Sally's when this collection is released on March 1st bright and early!

Candy Cane Nail Art

This nail art is inspired by one of my favourite holiday treats, candy cane ice cream! It was slightly rushed and I wish I had taken more time on it. Busy life gets in the way!

My thumb turned out to be my favourite. It smudged a little with the top coat though :(

I used China Glaze White On White for the base, China Glaze Hey Sailor and Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Grass Slipper for the stripes, and L.A. Color Craze in Star Light as the sparkle top coat.

Hope you enjoyed this manicure!

Snowman Nail Art

I just wanted to do a quick post on some nail art I attempted last night. I did a snowman on both my thumbs and snowflakes on my fingers.

Right hand

Left hand

Thumb (sorry for my gross nails!)

I used China Glaze Bahamian Escape for the base, Chine Glaze White On White for the snowman, L.A. Colors Art Deco in black for the snowman's arms, eyes and buttons, and Wet'N'Wild Wild Shine in Sunny Side Up for the carrot nose. The snowflakes were drawn with the Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen in White.

I love this manicure, it is so cute! And hopefully it brings some snow!

Drug Store Haul

Well, it's been a while! I have been super busy with work, especially the dance studio!

Today I have a few polishes I picked up at Shoppers Drug Mart and Loblaws.

The first is Revlon Blue Mosaic.
It is a medium blue sparkle, with larger blue, silver and green glitter. I love the colour! It's so glittery and fun, and I am a huge fan of blues.

Here it is on my nails. This is 3 layers and one top coat.

The second polish is also Revlon, called Royal Cloak.
It is a meduim purple/grey, kind of muted looking, with lavander flakies. I had such a hard time photographing this polish! It looks much better in real life. I think this is such an unusual colour, I have nothing like it in my collection.
This is 2 coats and a top coat.

The next polish is Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Ice Queen. This is a polish I have been looking for for a while. I love the colour combo and am a big fan of glitter!
It is a clear base with small silver glitter and medium baby pink and blue glitter.

Here it is on top of China Glaze Bahamian Escape. I really love this combo, reminds me of cotton candy!

The next polish is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Set The Stage.
This bottle didn't come with a label (strange I know). This polish is a clear base with small and medium gold glitter. As mentioned, I love glitter, so this was a big hit with me.
Here it is on top of Royal Cloak. I love this combo, it looks, well, royal! The glitter looks awesome on top of almost anything though.

Here is Set The Stage and Ice Queen on my bare nails.

The last polish I have today is Joe Fresh Twilight. I have been searching for this polish for about 6 months. I was so happy to finally find it!

I could not get a nice photo of the bottle! But it looks just like any other Joe Fresh nail polish. My pointer finger has two layers of Twilight, and my middle finger has a layer of black polish and one layer of Twilight. Isn't this a great colour!? I'm so happy to have it in my collection.

Well, that is all I have for you today! I hope you enjoyed it!

NYC IndividualEyes in Smokin Blue and Smokin Green - swatches and review

I am loving how the cheaper, drugstore brands are really stepping up their game. I got these 2 palettes for under $5 each, and am pretty impressed with the quality.

The first one I reviewed is Smokin Blue.

Each palette comes with 4 shades, a primer and highlighter.

This one includes a light beige, light greige, medium golden brown and a dark plum-brown. Some interesting colours compared to other palettes for blue eyes I have seen (no bronze or blue).

As you can see, the colour pay off is not too bad! These are swatched on bare skin, not using the primer. I used the shadows for an eye look one day, and the primer does enhance the colour even more.

The second palette is Smokin Green. I got this one for my sister since she has green eyes.

This palette includes a shimmery white, light grey-violet, a wine coloured purple, and a dark grey-purple.

Colour pay off is great here too. I love these colours, maybe even more then the blue ones.

Here is the primer and highlighter. The primer is a good colour, matches my skin tone. It worked pretty well, lasting about 5 hours without any creases or smudges.

The highlighter is great, super sparkly and pretty :) I love these types of shadows.

Considering how cheap these palettes are, I am pretty impressed. I am going to post a look I did with them soon.

So, what do you think?

Deborah Lippmann Glitter In The Air - swatch and review

Expensive nail polish rocks. But, being a freshly graduated college student, I rarely have the funds to buy any. A couple of weeks ago, I was visiting Kyra and we decided to take a trip to Holt Renfrew. That was when I decided to pick this baby up.

Ta-da! It was a tough choice between this and Across The Universe. That will be my next investment :)

Here is three layers on my thumb. Kind of blurry, sorry! My camera likes to annoy me sometimes. Anyway, I really love this colour. It's so...different! I don't even mind the fact that you can see my nail still.

Here it is on top of (L to R) China Glaze Pelican Gray, China Glaze White On White, Joe Fresh Powder Blue.

I like it on blue the best, but I want to find an even lighter blue to match the base colour of the original polish.

So, I really like the quality of the polish. Pretty easy to apply, even though it is a glitter. Easy removal too.

All in all, I am very happy with my first even expensive polish purchase ($25, ahhh!!). I know I will be back soon (possibly this weekend?) for more!

So, what do you think?

Wet N Wild Wild Shine Nail Color - Review and Swatches

Wet N Wild is a line of products that I have been using for a while now. It reminds me of my childhood when I first started experimenting with make-up. I also have some REALLY old nail polishes that are bubble gum scented and probably do not work anymore.

While at Walmart the other day, I saw these polishes in the WnW display. The reason they caught my eye was the price. They were $1 each. So, of course, I had to try a few. I ended up only selecting 2, since most of the colours were similar to what I already have.

The 2 colours I selected were Night Prowl and Blue Moon. I am very happy with both of my selections.

 Night Prowl

In the shade (no topcoat),

and in the sunlight (no topcoat)
Alright, so I really love this colour. It started off really yucky with only one coat, but after applying a second coat, it looked 100 times better. I would describe it as a really dark plum-y purple with medium purple glitter. The glitter is very fine, so it does not have that glittery texture some glitter polishes do. I would recommend a topcoat for two reasons. One, the polish dries kind of matte, which does not live up to the claim of "wild shine", and two, the polish flakes off after a couple of hours without one. I guess that is what you get for purchasing a $1 nail polish!

Blue Moon

In the shade (no topcoat),

and in the sunlight (no topcoat).

Wow. I was not expecting such a great colour when I saw this shade in the bottle. I LOVE this colour. It reminds me of a brand new pair of jeans, like the ones we use to buy for back-to-school. It has a silver shimmer to it, but it is not a glitter. The depth of the polish is really great, and this one sure is high shine! I would still recommend a topcoat for chipping though.

All in all, I really love both colours. I don't even mind the fact that they chip so easily, since I change my nails up almost everyday. I think they are great buys for $1 and I will be on the lookout for more colours that catch my eye!

Thanks for stopping by!

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick - Swatches and Review

So this summer I have been really into wearing lipstick. I had always considered lipstick an "old lady" thing, something you wear when you hit a certain age. Now, with all the awesome colours that companies are putting out, I am enjoying testing them.

One brand I have really liked so far is Rimmel and their Moisture Renew Lipsticks. The price is great, especially since they go on sale a lot, and they last quite a long time. Last night, I wore Funtime Fuchsia for a full night of teaching, which was about 6 hours. It was still on at the end of the night!

The 3 colours that I was drawn to are Tulip Pink, Coral Queen and Funtime Fuchsia. As I mentioned, wear time is great on all of them. I find they have a slight sunscreen scent to them, but it is not that strong (They do have an SPF 18).

This is Tulip Pink. It is a nice, bright, happy candy pink. It is not too crazy bright, but still gives off a great amount of colour. I find this colour very wearable for the daytime, but I would also wear it out at night!
Swatched on my arm,

and on my lips

Next is Coral Queen. This was my first time trying a orange based lipstick. I really like this colour because it does have a hint of orange, but it also has pink in it. I also find this colour very wearable, and it is not as bright on the lip as it is in the package!
Swatched on my arm,

and on my lips.

Last we have Funtime Fuchsia. I bought this colour as I was looking for a cheap dupe of MAC's Girl About Town. I had tried Revlon's Colorburst in Fuchsia which is the best cheap dupe, but it turned out I was allergic! So that is when I bought this lovely shade. I do not know how similar it is (I do not own GAT), but I sure do love this shade! It is a bit darker then I had thought, but I still really like it. I generally wear this shade at night, but as I mentioned above, I have also worn it to dance, work, etc. This is one of my favourite shades this summer.

Swatched on my arm,
and on my lips.

So, overall, I would say these lipsticks are a great buy. I bought all of mine at Shoppers Drug Mart, where they come in at under $6. Also, they tend to be on sale a lot, so that is a great time to try a new shade! The only thing I am not fond of is the scent (I am very scent sensitive) and the cheap feeling case. Other then that, I think they are a great buy!

Thanks for stopping by!

Sally Hansen New Lengths Ceramics Coral Pink - Swatches and Review

Good afternoon!

About a year ago my Mom and sister picked up this shade of nail polish from Shoppers Drug Mart. I wasn't really interested in the colour, it was a little too plain for me. This summer, however, I have really been into corals. I have a coral lipstick I LOVE (that post is coming soon!) and just got a super cute white and coral striped bag from H&M.

The shade is called Coral Pink, and it is by Sally Hansen. I would say it is much more orange than pink, and has a pearl finish. The one thing I do not like is that it is a tiny bit streaky and does take 3 coats to even out. Other then that, I think it is the perfect summer shade! It is super shiney, even without a top coat.

Here is Coral Pink in natural sunlight, 3 coats (Thanks to my sister for her cute ring!)

And a close-up. You can see the streaks a little here. Not too bad though!

As I mentioned, this was purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart. I am not sure of the price, but I find Sally Hansen to be quite reasonable for the quality of their nail products!

So what are your thoughts on coral this summer?

Thanks for stopping by!
